Actor Rodjun Cruz harbors no illusions about following in the footsteps of Manny Pacquiao, but that hasn’t stopped him from being a disciple of the sport of boxing.
Due to his healthy lifestyle and training regimen, Rodjun has steadily reaped the rewards of his efforts.
But he admits not setting out on the warrior’s path right from the start.
“I was just into sports,” he says. Then he decided to crank it up several notches.
“I was inspired by a friend of mine named Victor Basa,” says Rodjun. “When I saw his billboards with his abs in full view, I told myself ‘that’s what I wanted.’”
And that’s when he started hitting the gym.
“It has become part of my lifestyle now. I go to the gym to work out three times a week,” he says.
Aside from the usual gym routine, Rodjun is also into the martial arts – muay thai for flexibility and boxing for footwork and body rhythm.
“You really don’t need very huge muscles on your body; just the right bulk for definition,” he says. “I’m also a dancer, so I need to be limber. That’s why I need martial arts for my body to stretch.”
Pacquiao’s passion is also crucial, says Rodjun.
“Boxing helps for my movements and rhythm. When you box, you’re counting your movements; it’s just like dancing.”
Rodjun Cruz is a regular in the widely-followed telefantasya “Encantadia” on GMA-7. He is also starring in the afternoon teleserye of GMA “Legally Blind.” (Ruel Mendoza)
