The Department of Environment and Natural Resources will maintain their no-nonsense clearing operation along Laguna Lake despite potential millions of revenue losses.
While a total of P50-million worth of revenues will go to thin air, the DENR said it has in place the needed technical support to cushion the impact on the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA).
“The dismantling operation remains a priority in NAECTF’s order of battle, and the DENR support, which is meant to boost the law enforcement capabilities of LLDA, will increasingly become stronger in the days to come,” said DENR Undersecretary and National Anti-Environmental Crime Task Force (NAECTF) head Art Valdez.
The DENR and the LLDA started last January 26 a massive operation to clear Laguna Lake of illegal structures, including large fish pens and cages. (Ellalyn De Vera-Ruiz)
