8 a.m. – Ateneo vs UE (men’s)
10 a.m. – La Salle vs Adamson (men’s)
Defending champion La Salle and powerhouse Ateneo try to inch closer to league leader University of the Philippines when they tackle separate winless opponents today in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Spikers collide with the hungry Adamson Lady Falcons at 4 p.m. right before the Lady Eagles tangle with the University of the East Lady Warriors at 2 p.m.
La Salle and Ateneo are currently tied for second to fourth places with National University with identical 3-1 win-loss records following straight-set victories over the weekend, while UE and Adamson are at the cellar with similar 0-4 cards.
The Lady Spikers posted a hard-earned 29-27, 25-16, 25-21 win over the Lady Bulldogs, while the Lady Eagles scored their second straight triumph at the expense of the Lady Falcons, 25-19, 25-18, 25-13.
Ateneo assistant coach Sherwin Meneses, however, downplayed their chances against UE despite being the fancied squad in their matchup.
“Hindi kami pwedeng mag-relax, lalo na ngayon na ’yung kalaban namin naghahanap ng panalo,” Meneses said.
UE has displayed its strength but just couldn’t close out its matches in its favor, betraying its lack of stamina.
Shaya Adorador continues to lead the Lady Warriors, but will have her hands full against the Lady Eagles’ intact core in Jia Morado, Bea De Leon, and Jho Maraguinot.
