Three officials of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have been implicated in the kidnap-slay of Korean Jee Ick Joo.
In the supplemental complaint filed by the PNP-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) before the Department of Justice (DoJ), NBI Director Ricado Diaz, Deputy Director Jose Yap, and Roel Bolivar, were included as respondents in the case.
Also named respondents were Superintendent Rafael Dumlao III of the defunct PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG); NBI errand boy or “striker” Jerry Omlang; Gream funeral services owner Gerardo Santiago; Santiago’s live-in-partner Epephany Gotera; and Gream employees Teodolito Macato Tarepe, Kevin Enriquez, Robert John Tobias, and Bernardo Maraya Jr.
“In his submitted Statement, PSupt. Rafael P. Dumlao III named respondents Director, RD Ric Diaz, Deputy Yap and Narcotics Bloivar, all of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and narrated their direct participation in these complaints,” the PNP-AKG indicated in its supplemental complaint.
In a February 2 order from NBI Director Dante Gierran, Diaz was relieved as regional director of NBI-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) and reassigned to the Regional Operations Service; Yap was removed as deputy director for Investigative Services and named as officer-in-charge of the Information and Communications Technology Division (ICTD); while Boliver was replaced as head of the NBI Task Force Against Illegal Drugs and moved to the Office of the Director of the NBI.
With the addition of the new names, there are now a total of 14 respondents in the case which already includes Ramon Yalung and PNP-AIDG members SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel and SPO4 Roy Villegas. (Jeffrey G. Damicog)
