An official of the state-run Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) revealed Thursday that some 70 armed men have taken control of Subic’s popular theme park, Ocean Adventure, following dispute between past and present management last week.
As this developed, representatives of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) went to verify the alleged volatile situation in the former US Naval base, which according to the state-run ports authority has injured 10 of the workers there.
In a radio interview, SBMA chairman Martin Diño said that he is upset with what has occured inside the park when armed men stormed the area last February 13.
Diño said disgruntled ex-investors led by Scott Sharpe, a foreign national, were behind the attack. The group allegedly used force in evicting women in the staff dormitory, struck several doors, and even demanded food and drinks. (Franco G. Regala)
