The Dallas Mavericks have signed two former NBA D-League players in Ben Bentil and guard Quinn Cook. Both were given 10-day contracts as the Mavericks looked to fill open spots following a roster shake-up due to the NBA trade deadline. Bentil and Cook are expected to suit up when the Mavs face the Miami Heat.
Bentil was drafted in the second round by Boston last year but was eventually waived in the preseason. He previously played for Fort Wayne in the NBA D-League before joining Xinjiang in China.
Cook went undrafted in 2015. He had a chance to join the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Hornets the past two preseasons but ended up being waived. He was named MVP of the D-League All-Star Game last weekend, something which may have caught the eye of the Mavericks.
The Mavericks had two roster spots after sending Andrew Bogut and Justin Anderson to Philadelphia in a deal for Nerlens Noel and waiving guard Deron Williams. (with reports from AP)
