IN POOR TASTE – When a love affair is over, it’s in poor taste to wash dirty linen in public. If there are issued to be resolved or confrontations to be made, then by all means do them in private. Not in social media or in print or before the television camera.
Bringing up money – like “I’m tired of spending” or “I can’t sign checks all the time” – is uncalled for, in very poor taste indeed.
In a relationship, be it romantic or platonic or plain friendship – whoever has more is expected to spend and not count the cost.
Are you listening, Erich Gonzales and Daniel Matsunaga ?
To be fair, the Brazilian-Japanese actor remained a gentleman through it all. In return, he earned more public sympathy than Erich.

WITH GRACE – Look, Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo handled their break-up with grace, with class. No recriminations, only best wished and thanks for the memory.
Even Carmina Villaroel and the “late” Rustom Padilla (“resurrected” as BB Gandanghari) ended their marriage admirably. No bad words or “sumbatan” against each other.
Same can be said of Ogie Alcasid and Michelle Van Eimeren. Ogie and Michelle and their respective partners, Regine and Australian gentleman, ended up as best friends.

BETTER OFF—Back to Erich and Daniel who, in the end, are better off without each other. Their loveteam didn’t really make it big. At best “okey lang.”
Erich is a fine actress and can concentrate on character and even “contravida” roles. There are lots of assignments for competent actors like Erich, not necessarily leads.
In this columnist’s book, her biggest and finest role was in “Maria La del Barrio,” which was even a bigger hit in Latin America than “Marimar.”
As for Daniel, well lost of acting workshops and Tagalog lessons are in order. Let’s admit it, he can hardly act or speak in straight Tagalog.
But the he’s handsome and has a fine physique. Than use them to advantage, ramp modeling is a good exposure. Not to forget, becoming an underwear image model. Heard that in Bangkok, Daniel was one…even dropping his brief.
So there.
