Three pageant policemen have given their unsolicited advice to aspiring young men who want to join the Philippine National Police (PNP) as they defended the many good policemen who continue to protect the civilians these days.
P/Inspector Christopher Dulagan, who will represent the Philippines at the Man of the World 2017 contest, said that aspiring policemen should have discipline.
“Discipline is No. 1. The present generation of policemen are not like the past policemen. Future policemen should apply what they have learned in school,” said Dulagan, during press launch of the Man of the World 2017 pageant held at Aristocrat Restaurant on Roxas Blvd. in Manila.
Mister International 2014 P02 Neil Perez said that policemen-wannabe should do well in training and apply what they have learned in their training.
“I hope that they excel during training because they will soon be in the frontline of security. Once assigned in the field, they should also set a good example,” said Perez, who is a bomb and explosives technician assigned at the Aviation Security Group.
P01 Don Mcgyver Cochico, who placed in the semis of the 2016 Manhunt International contest, said that aspiring policemen should know what discipline is all about and the rest will follow. “Let’s be good policemen to all.”
They also defended the police force, saying that not all of their colleagues are “bad eggs.” They also said they will always be good followers and will respect the decisions of the President and the chief of the PNP.
“I think the President and the chief PNP know what’s best for us. I know their decision will always be for the welfare of the country, not just for the policemen. I will just abide by the rules and obey legal orders,” said Dulagan.
Perez said that the public should not generalize the impression that many policemen are scalawags.
“Not all policemen are scalawags. Siguro ‘wag na lang natin i-generalize na lahat ng pulis ay masama. There are many good policemen who working hard to serve the public. Marami pa ring pulis na matitino,” Perez also said.
