ZAMBOANGA CITY – Muslim extremist Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) released unharmed on Monday afternoon an 8-year old boy after they reportedly received P3 Million in ransom money from the family of the victim.
A police source who declined to be name said the ASG released the unharmed young victim at a village in Anuling, Patikul, Sulu.
Concerned local who saw the boy immediately brought him to Ging Hayudini who later on accompanied the victim to the Jolo airport.
The boy was kidnapped together with his parents inside their residence last August 7, 2016 in Payao, Sibugay province.
The parents, identified as Elmer and Nora Awing were released a few days later but without their innocent son.
It was only recently that the victims and the bandits were able to agree on releasing the young victim. The boy’s mother is said to be operating two small stores while his father works at the Payao municipal treasurer’s office. (Nonoy E. Lacson)
