World Chess Federation lecturer Casto Abundo will conduct a FIDE Arbiters Seminar from March 3 to 5 at the Philippine Sports Commission at the Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila.
Abundo was former FIDE Secretary General under the late FIDE President Florencio Campomanes of the Philippines and Executive Director under the current President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov of Russia. The Filipino is currently Executive Director of the Asian Chess Federation based in the UAE.
He is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 40-year-long career in world chess, having been Chairman of the FIDE Constitutional Commission and member of the FIDE Qualification Commission among other positions. He was FIDE Rating Administrator for 30 years and Chief Arbiter of numerous FIDE World Championships.
The Seminar will cover the Laws of Chess, Rapid Chess and Blitz Chess, Swiss Pairings, Title and Rating Regulations, Tournament Rules, Tie Break Systems and the new Anti-Cheating Regulations.
