SAVING UP FOR SON: ‘If I can do half of what my father did for me, I’d be very happy,’ declared 70s child superstar Niño Muhlach.
This was Niño’s reply to a query on how he’s handling the finances of his son, Alonzo, who, like him, started acting at age 4 is quickly following in his footsteps.
Alonzo Muhlach celebrated his 7th birthday with a grand party recently at the Circle of Fun, a carnival-themed park within the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.
Niño, remembered as the leading child actor in the 70s, happily informed us that despite Alonzo’s work in showbiz, he has maintained good grades in school, at La Salle Greenhills, where he’s in first grade.
‘First honor pa rin siya,’ the elder Muhlach stated.
Alonzo’s schooling remains the family’s priority, reason why he is not seen in any teleserye even in the face of many offers. Alonzo makes movies and accepts shows like “Your Face Sounds Familiar” which require limited working hours.

AMALIA FUENTES UPDATE: From all indications, the boy is merely enjoying himself. That afternoon at the party, he played with classmates from La Salle and entertained guests with ease.
Spotted at the party were Alonzo’s grandfathers, Alex and Cheng Muhlach, brothers to 60s movie queen-film producer Amalia Fuentes, who was missed at the party.
Cheng told me that Amalia’s condition has improved tremendously. She is recovering at home from a stroke.
