Police have arrested the suspects in the murder of Masculados Group member Marcelino “Ozu” Ong during an ongoing pursuit operation Friday in Quezon City.
In a press conference, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said authorities collared suspect Christopher Kyle Ernie together with Joselito Pangilinan,39, of Barangay Sikatuna Villageand Reedlani Eclarenal, 19, of Barangay Sauyo in a vacant lot along Atherton St. in Barangay Sta. Lucia Friday afternoon.
The three yielded a caliber .45 handgun, a fan knife and various drugs paralhernalia including six sachets of suspected shabu.
Ernie is the suspect in the shooting to death of Ong and a seaman identified as Arnest John Agbayani who was killed 16 days after Ong’s death. Ernie and two cohorts Jaime Ilano alias “Toto Laki” and Paulo Hernandez were involved in the killing of Ong inside the Primrose Subdivision last August 2015 where the suspects also took away the victim’s brand new Toyota Hilux.
A month after the death of Ong, police collared Ernie, Hernandez and two others in Dasmariñas, Cavite for possesion of illegal drugs while inside Agbayani’s missing Subaru Forester Wagon plated AIA-6237, which color was changed from blue to black.
While in detention, Ernie confessed his involvement in Ong’s death and pointed Ilano as the gunman and Hernandez as cohort. He also admitted driving Ong’s Toyota Hilux as they escape from the crime scene.
While investigating their links to Agbayani’s death, Ernie and Hernandez managed to post bail from carnapping and drug charges after the court granted their motion March last year.
Ernie however was again being hunted down for Ong’s death when Judge Maria Conchita Lucero-De Mesa of the Binangonan, Rizal Regional Trial Court issued a warrant of arrest against him last November 2016 regarding a carnapping with homicide case.
Eleazar said that on March 3, operatives of the QCPD’s Anti-Carnapping Unit (ANCAR) received information that Ernie went hiding in North Fairview Subdivision, Barangay Sta. Lucia, Quezon City. (VANNE ELAINE P. TERRAZOLA)
