The Manny Pacquiao vs. Amir Khan clash is not happening this April according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. Instead, the 85-year-old promoter has sent a new proposal to Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz with a mystery opponent.
“When they contacted me, I told them it was pie in the sky, that this is crazy, it’s not going to happen,” Arum said via the LA Times. “Manny wanted to roll the dice. He rolled the dice and it came up snake eyes.
“If something is too good to be true, it’s too good to be true.”
Arum branded the $38 million fight purse target of Manny Pacquiao unrealistic and made no sense. He adds that revisiting the numbers in the fall should be done to come out with more factual numbers.
The Top Rank promoter is now awaiting the response of Manny Pacquiao to the new proposal, aware that the eight-time division champion may or may not approve.
