CEBU CIY – Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 Director Yogi Felimon Ruiz has apologized to people hurt by the images of naked inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) and took full responsibility of the incident.
“I apologize if there were those hurt by the photos. I take full responsibility… bu it was not meant to embarrass the inmates we just wanted to make sure they were not hiding any bladed weapons,” Ruiz said.
Despite the controversy that the photos of naked inmates created, Ruiz vowed that he will continue to order the stripping of inmates during jail raids as part of security measures for both the inmates and the operatives.
“I don’t feel demoralized at all. I take it as a challenge and I am ready to do it again,” added Ruiz.
Ruiz assured no photos will be taken during future jail searches. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
