The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed yesterday tax evasion charges against three Makati business executives for declaring tax debts of P2.9 million in their returns but did not pay any.
In a criminal complaint submitted to the Department of Justice, Makati Revenue Regional Director Glen Geraldino identified the respondents as Lovell Gopez, Erlinda Gopez and Maricar Santos, president, treasurer and manager, respectively, of Master Sport Corporation of the Magallanes Commercial Center,
Records showed the firm was enrolled with the BIR’s electronic filing and payment system (eFPS) and declared deficiency income and value- added taxes amounting to some P3 million for 2012 to 2015.
“But the taxes reflected thereon have not been,’ the complaint stated.
The accused were among the five other business operators who were also slapped of the same tax cheating cases before the DoJ for allegedly ignoring assessment and collection letters sent to them to settle back tax accounts totaling to more than P17 million .
They were Arnel Miguel and Jerome Valera, president and treasurer, respectively, of flying school Aeroflite Aviation Corporation of Pasay City, and Rebecca Sy, Jojo Candelario and Alice Yap, chairman, treasurer and finance officer, respectively, of Chow Master Corporation of Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
