COTABATO CITY – A misunderstanding about their finances led a man to hack his wife who just arrived from abroad after working as a domestic helper.
Police identified the suspect as Landy Gunsi Paulino, 31, who attacked his wife with a machete after he was confronted regarding the alleged mismanagement of their savings that was supposed to be used for the construction of their house in Maguindanao.
The wife, Leni, sustained a severe left arm injury and is now confined at a government hospital while her husband committed suicide by hanging himself at a nearby tree but not after injuring his father and brother.
Leni reportedly confronted Landy who could not come up with an explanation on where he kept the money the OFW has regularly remitting.
The three injured victims are said to be recovering well while the remains of the suspect was brought transported here. (Ali G. Macabalang)
