CEBU CITY – The National Bureau of Investigation Region 7 have arrested three Romanians allegedly involved in Automated Teller Machine card skimming activities that compromised at least 2,000 bank accounts here.
The NBI Region 7 identified the suspects as Lonup Alesandrou, Razvan Aurelian, and Cosal Ion.
The suspects were invited by the NBI for questioning after closed circuit television footage in a bank in Barangay Banilad showed them visiting the ATM machines several times.
NBI Region 7 Special Investigator III Florante Gaoiran said that they secured a search warrant and brought the suspects to their condominiums in Barangay Lahug here where they found suspected ATM skimming devices.
The suspects refused to give statements following their arrest.
A source from the NBI said they are looking for more Romanians allegedly involved in ATM hacking activities.
One of the suspects is reportedly an Information Technology expert who played a major role in their ATM skimming activities. (Mars W. Mosqueda Jr.)
