Cignal gains semifinals

Manila, Philippines – Cignal clobbered Cocolife, 25-15, 25-20, 25-16, Saturday to clinch the second semifinal spot in the Belo Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.

Jovelyn Gonzaga finished with 10 kills and two aces for 13 points while Honey Royse Tubino and Rachel Anne Daquis chipped in nine markers apiece for the HD Spikers, who joined idle Petron in the next round.

The leaves only one semifinal seat to be disputed by Generika-Ayala and Foton.

Generika-Ayala destroyed Sta. Lucia, 25-21, 25-13, 15-16, in the other game.

The Lifesavers, who improved to 2-2, will clash with unbeaten Blaze Spikers while Foton battles winless Sta. Lucia in the final day of eliminations on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The tourney is backed by Mikasa, Senoh, Asics and Mueller with TV5 as official broadcast partner.
