Game Today
(Smart Araneta)
7 p.m. – PNP vs Malacañang
(Series tied at 1-1)
Philippine National Police is out to kick to ghost of past failures as it goes for the UNTV Cup title against Malacañang today in their sudden death duel at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Game time is set at 7 p.m. with the Responders confident of nailing their first championship after losing thrice in the finals, including against Armed Forces of the Philippines last season.
The Responders forced a deciding Game 3 following a 67-61 win in Game 2 last Tuesday. The Malacañang Kamao took the opener, 82-81.
For ending a Game 2 jinx, PNP star Olan Omiping is convinced they will emerge victorious in their best-of-three series.
“Hindi pa kami nanalo ng Game 2, so ngayon nanalo na rin kami,” said Omiping, who sealed the team’s Game 2 victory with a clock-beating jumper late in the contest.
Another good sign, he said, was that they finally won at the Big Dome.
“Ngayon lang kami nanalo sa Araneta at ngayon din kami nanalo ng second game. So maganda tignan di ba?” added Omiping.
The chosen charity of the winning team gets R4 million with the runner-up getting P2 million in the tournament organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon for public servants.
