CEBU CITY – Road rage suspect David Lim Jr., nephew of controversial businessman Peter Lim, surrendered to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 at dawn yesterday, nearly 48 hours after he shot a nurse following a traffic spat.
PRO 7 Director Senior Supt. Noli Taliño said it was Secretary Bong Go who informed him that the suspect was ready to surrender. Lim arrived at the PRO 7 office at 2 a.m. Tuesday with his mother.
Lim is accused of shooting 33-year-old nurse Ephraim Nuñal. A video of the Sunday incident has since made rounds online.
Taliño denied insinuations that he extended special treatment to Lim, nephew of alleged drug lord Peter Lim. He said Lim could not be put in jail because there was no case filed against him at the time of his surrender.
Lim declined to issue any statement yesterday but his lawyer, Orlando Salatandre Jr., claimed the suspect was merely defending himself.
He also questioned the viral video, saying it appears edited and did not present the complete event.
Taliño said charges for frustrated homicide and possession of loose firearms will be charged against the suspect. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
