PEACE AWARD – Writer, director, and producer Baby R. Nebrida received two blessings this month of March, when the whole world celebrates Women’s Month.
Let’s start with the first blessing, Ambassador for Peace Award she got March 7 at the Manila Hotel. It was most unexpected but needless to say, Baby was highly honored. The Peace Award was given by Universal Peace Foundation and International Association of Parliamentarian for Peace. (IAPP).
When Irma Q. Castillo, national convenor of IAPP invited Baby, she thought it would be only for dinner. But Baby was surprised, albeit pleasantly, when it was announced she was chosen one of awardees, Ambassador for Peace. People behind the international groups (composed mostly of parliamentarians and outstanding citizens) were told of her accomplishment as filmmaker, religious, and civic leader.
Her last film is “Across the Crescent Moon,” which tells of unity in diversity, advocating peace and harmony between Christians and Muslims. Well, they have one country, the Philippines, and worship one God, although known by different names.
Her citation reads in part, “Transcending racial, national, and religious barriers, the Ambassadors for peace contribute to the fulfillment of the hope of all ages, a unified world of peace wherein the spiritual and material dimensions of life are harmonized.”
