President Duterte has appointed his trusted aide, Army Col. Lope Dagoy, as the new head of the Presidential Security Group, Malacañang said yesterday.
Dagoy’s appointment to the helm of the PSG, assigned to protect the President, his family, and visiting foreign leaders, was effective last Tuesday, according to the Office of the Executive Secretary.
He replaced Brig. Gen. Rolando Bautista, who has been assigned to head the Army 1st Infantry Division in Zamboanga del Sur.
The formal turnover ceremony will be held today at the PSG compound in Malacañang.
Duterte, who is scheduled to return to Manila this morning from his visits to Thailand and Myanmar, is expected to attend the event.
Prior to his appointment, Dagoy served as senior military adviser of the President.
Dagoy, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Hinirang Class 1987, was previously assigned to the Davao City-based Armed Forces Eastern Mindanao Command. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
