President Duterte’s call for an end to impeachment bids against Vice President Leni Robredo has gone unheeded following declarations by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and a group of pro-Duterte bloggers and lawyers that the process to unseat her will continue.
In various media interviews while on a congressional inspection trip of Roll on, Roll Off roads and facilities in Mindanao yesterday, Alvarez declared that the House has no other recourse but to follow the constitutional mandate to process and decide on impeachment complaints.
On the other hand, Assistant Secretary Epimaco Densing III of the Department of Interior and Local Government yesterday led a group of lawyers and bloggers in announcing plans to file an impeachment complaint against Robredo.
“So we have decided to file for her impeachment. She can no longer be allowed to continue in this manner, not anymore. Not at our expense,” declared lawyer Bruce Rivera during the press conference held at Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City. (Ben R. Rosario)
