Consistent national and regional amateur gold medalist Junrel Jimenez will make his Pinoy Pride debut topbilled by the world flyweight title fight between Filipino Donnie Nietes against top contender Komgrich nantapech of Thailand on April at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.
ALA Promotions officially announced this after Jimenez, together with his manager Lorenzo “Chao” Sy, signed a three-year promotional contract with the organization yesterday.
Before turning pro in 2015, Jimenez won gold medals twice in the Palarong Pambansa (2011-2012) and the Philippine National Games in 2013 and 2014 (PNG).
Jimenez was also a three-time Batang Pinoy champion from 2014 to 2016 and currently holds a professional record of six wins and one loss, with three knockouts.
According to ALA Promotions President/CEO Michael Aldeguer, the organization would be implementing a more aggressive approach in signing new talents from all over the country this year as it moves towards bigger and more shows here and abroad.
A contract with ALA Promotions would mean clearer path for a prospect like Jimenez, a chance to be featured in the promotions’ big shows internationally to provide him better opportunities to improve his boxing career.
“We’re very thankful to ALA Promotions for welcoming us. I personally believe ALA Promotions will be able to help Junrel achieve his dreams of being a successful boxer and eventually helping his family,” said Sy.
