“Let’s pray while giving the Earth a rest.”
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle has invited the faithful to pray the Holy Rosary while observing the Earth Hour tonight from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
“We are inviting you to join in the annual observance of the Earth Hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Aside from turning off lights, we are inviting you to pray the Holy Rosary while tuned in to Radio Veritas. For one hour, you will save up on electricity, give the Earth a rest, and pray. Let us trust in the Lord,” Tagle said over Church-run Radio Veritas.
Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines president Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas has also urged the faithful to observe the Earth Hour. Radio Veritas will broadcast a special program called “Ang Banal na Oras para sa Kalikasan” tonight from 8 to 9:30 p.m. The program will feature reflections, prayer, and sharing about God’s gifts of creation based on Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Si.”
It will be moderated by Lou Arsenio, coordinator of the Archdiocese of Manila’s Ecology Ministry, Rodne Galicha, country manager of Climate Reality Project Philippines, and the Eco-Prayer Warriors of the Archdiocese of Manila. (Christina I. Hermoso)
