The construction of the P1-billion Atimonan-Mauban Road will start soon, Department of Public Works and Highways officials have disclosed.
DPWH 4th District Engineering Office Engineer Cely S. Flancia said the 18.93-kilometer long road, of which 1.8 kilometers belong to her jurisdiction, will provide an alternate route to motorists going to Manila and Bicol and will boost the economy of the two municipalities.
Flancia said Quezon Rep. Helen Tan initiated the project and negotiated for the release of a P50-million initial fund from DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar to start construction of the part of the road in her district.
Assistant District Engineer Gener J. Abergas Planning and Design Section Chief Jose B. Serafica said initial works include clearing and payment of right of way.
Flancia said the project is expected to be completed and opened by 2021.
