Game Today
(Kaohsiung, Taiwan)
8 p.m. – Kaohsiung vs Alab Pilipinas
Alab Pilipinas looks to enter the playoffs on a winning note as it battles the Kaohsiung Truth today in the final regular season game of the ASEAN Basketball League at the Kaohsiung Municipal High School gym in Taiwan.
Though nothing is at stake in the 8 p.m. affair, Alab would like to come away with a win on the road before shifting its focus on the best-of-three semifinal series with the Singapore Slingers which starts next Sunday in the Lion City.
The team of coach Mac Cuan is on a positive mood after posting a stunning 82-75 victory over the league-leading Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions at the University of Southeastern Philippines gym in Davao City.
That victory allowed Alab to secure the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and a date with the Slingers. The two sides split their four-game series in the eliminations.
Imports Sampson Carter and James Hughes and local player Robby Celiz delivered big numbers in Alab’s win that snapped a three-game losing skid on heels of a late-season slump that saw them lose five of six.
Ray Parks Jr. has struggled in recent games, and would like to hike up his production like he did early in the season, with fellow locals like Celiz and Val Acuna seemingly raising their level of play.
Parks hopes to return to form against the Truth, who he dominated in their first two meetings.
He had 30 points in the first meeting in Bulacan, before setting a local scoring record of 41 in his hometown of Paranaque City.
