A suspected hold-upper was killed in a shootout with the police in Tondo, Manila Friday night.
Santi Ramirez, 37, who sustained gunshot wounds in his chest was brought to Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital but did not reach the hospital alive.
Investigation showed that the Manila Police District-Station 1 conducted an anti- criminality operation in Aroma Temporary Housing Site in Tondo around 11 p.m The site was known for robbery incidents and illegal drugs trade, police said.
The lawmen decided to appproach Ramirez, who was reportedly roaming around the area.
Ramirez then allegedly fired his .38 caliber gun then ran away to Building 22 that resulted in a brief chase.
Ramirez continued to fire the lawmen until Police Officer 1 Gerald Andres found his mark.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession were his loaded gun, two sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia. (Analou de Vera)
