A police officer in Pasig city who wanted to bring honor to her father by becoming a cop herself, has set her eyes on the title ‘Ganda Pulis 2017’ hoping to bring a positive take on the tarnished image of law enforcers in the country.
Police Officer 1 Liza Marie Villajuan, 29, of the Eastern Police District (EPD) District Public Safety Battalion (DPSB) says that title will give her the right platform to prove to the public that not all cops are bad.
A native of Palawan, Villajuan was a 2013 Philippine National Police recruit who served a few years as a registered nurse before pursuing a profession that greatly surprised her father who is a retired policeman.
The youngest in a brood of three, Villajuan’s brothers did not give the profession a second look and pursued other employment positions.
Villajuan, on the other hand, had an epiphany once when she was working as a nurse in a private institution. The experience changed her career path and reset her perspective in life.
(Jenny F. Manongdo)
