KIDAPAWAN CITY – Six died while a few more were injured when two groups clashed in what is believed to a clan war disputing land possession in North Cotabato.
The Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade spokesperson Capt. Alvin Macatangay said one group led by the clan of Jimmy Matalam and son Arlin Matalam had a dispute with the another group composed of the Cua, Kalawan and Kusain Akmad families.
The clash led to the death of Ustadz Odin Bala, Mesi Bala and King Kambambalan who are identified with the side of the Cua group while Zukarno Maguid, Lawan Lakman and Makungan Lakman, all said to be with the side of the Matalam clan, were the three other fatalities.
The Cua family has been reportedly backed by armed men led by certain Commanders Kineg Inalang andDuton Mantawil of Brangay Pedtad in the adjacent town of Kabacan. (Ali Macabalang)
