The suspect in the grenade-throwing incident in Jolo, Sulu that killed four people has died after being sent to the hospital complaining about his health.
Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) regional police said 22-year-old Sedimar Rabbah died at the Sulu Sanitarium Hospital but not under mysterious circumstances.
“He complained to the jail guard on-duty that he was not feeling well,” said Sindac “He died in the hospital. Based on the medical certificate, he died of multiple hematoma.”
Sindac said that based on the report of his men, Rabbah was already beaten up by the angry mob when he was arrested, especially after the grenade explosion.
According to police reports, Rabbah entered the Karina Bakeshop and Grocery store at around 7 p.m. Saturday pretending to be a customer.
Rabbah was caught taking something out of the grocery and was chased by some bystanders.
Before being cornered, the suspect threw the grenade that exploded and instantly killed Bibing Julaili, 45; Emraida Matlih, 32; and Alnasir Naning, 36.
Twenty four bystanders were hurt and taken to a nearby hospital. Of the 10 that were admitted, a certain Maruji died while being treated, bringing to four the number of fatalities. (AARON RECUENCO)
