Police have busted an Indian-led kidnap-for-ransom group following the arrest of one of the leaders and three Filipino members in separate operations in Nueva Ecija.
Director General Ronald dela Rosa, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the arrest came after the group took the ransom payment from an Indian businessman amounting to P600,000.
He identified he arrested suspects as Indian Gurmeet Singh, one of the two leaders of the group; Jerry Cabading, alias Tolox; Francisco Castro, alias Gorilla; and, Gregorio Pena, alias Junjun.
“The PNP AKG is now conducting pursuit operations against another leader of the group identified a Kikker Singh, who remains at-large,” said dela Rosa.
“This group is believed to be involved in eight (8) other kidnapping for ransom cases, mostly involving Indian victims, in Pampanga, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, and Metro Manila,” he added. (Aaron Recuenco)
