The Quezon City Police (QCPD) launched a manhunt against a lady police officer who allegedly shot and wounded the husband of her former girlfriend yesterday morning.
Police Officer 1 Wealyn Malaya Ojastro, detailed at the Novaliches Police Station, went into hiding after shooting Mark Kevin Tumbaga, 33, in his house on Naval Street in Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches.
Tumbaga is now confined at Bernardino General Hospital for a gunshot wound in the leg, police said.
The victim told police that Ojastro had a brief affair with his wife Glaiza, and she kept chasing his spouse even after he confronted her over their previous relationship.
Yesterday, police said the couple was roused from their sleep around 1 a.m. when Ojastro tried to break into their house by destroying their glass jalousies.
Tumbaga said Ojastro was armed with a gun when he opened their door. But before he could close it, the policewoman was able to grab a piece of broken jalousie and hit his face with it.
Glaiza tried to pacify the cop and help her husband proceed to the hospital.
Police said Ojastro, however, kicked Glaiza and shot Tumbaga once in the right leg. She immediately escaped after the shooting.
Investigators have yet to determine if Ojastro was drunk during the incident.
Police appealed on Ojastro to surrender.
Tumbaga said he is keen on pressing charges against the lady cop. (VANNE ELLAINE P. TERRAZOLA)
