GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PNA) – Police authorities in Region 12 are closely monitoring 11 of their personnel for alleged involvement in illegal drug-related activities.
Supt. Romeo Galgo Jr., public information officer of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-12, said Tuesday the concerned personnel were specifically tagged as drug users and protectors of some personalities involved in the illegal drug trade.
He said some of them were identified through information relayed by concerned residents in parts of the region.
All involved personnel are non-commissioned police officers who are ranked between Police Officer 1 and Senior Police Officer 4, he said.
“Our concerned units are currently monitoring and gathering evidences against them for the possible filing of charges,” Galgo said in a radio interview.
Since July last year, the police official said six police personnel in the region had been found positive of using illegal drugs based on a series of surprise mandatory tests.
Five of these were assigned in local police units and one was assigned under the PRO-12’s national support unit, he said.
Galgo said they already forwarded the case folders or files of the erring personnel to the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame for further investigation and meting of appropriate sanctions.
