Police have launched their manhunt against a village watchman who shot a couple whom he accused of killing two men and a woman early Wednesday inside a shanty believed to gambling den in Quezon City.
Armando Tahil, a watchman of Barangay Old Balara, is hunted for shooting Louie Ernesto, 37, and his wife Estrella, 36, around 6:45 a.m. in a compound on Laura Street.
The couple is now confined at the East Avenue Medical Center. Louie sustained a gunshot wound in the chest while the woman was grazed by a stray bullet on the head.
The incident happened more than an hour after three persons were killed in a shanty near Laura Street on along Commonwealth Avenue.
Police identified the victims as Robert Mago, 22; an alias “Roy,” around 35 to 40 years old; and a certain “Anabel”, around 30 to 35 years old. All were residents of Laura St.
They were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside a makeshift house in Tanduay Compound on Commonwealth Avenue.
Prior to the killing, a resident told police that successive gunshots were heard from the shanty around 5:15 a.m.
Police said they recovered from the crime scene at least eight spent shells and eight bullet fragments.
Also found in the shanty were a “video karera” machine and another fruit game machine.
After the incident, the drunk Tahil, at around 6:45 a.m., reportedly appeared in the house of Ernesto and suddenly him the chest. A stray bullet hit Estrella on the head.
Tahil escaped after the shooting.
In their initial probe, police found out that Tahil claimed that the couple was responsible for the deaths of the three victims.
Authorities are investigating the shooting incidents. They also have yet to know who maintained the gambling den. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
