COTABATO CITY – Being a former member of the military or an active local official did not help two people to avoid getting arrested for their involvement in illegal drugs.
Tuesday night, anti-narcotics operatives arrested a couple for allegedly operating a drug den here after two weeks of surveillance operation.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) regional director Bryan Babang identified the one of the suspects as Rogelio Bolo, a former corporal of the 6th Infantry Division who was nabbed together with his wife after they were caught in the act of selling alleged methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a PDEA agent.
Babang, who was discharged from the service for going AWOL, was arrested along with wife and their 15-year-old son who was later on turned over to the city social welfare office.
Babang told reporters that surveillance operations were conducted at the couple’s house in Barangay Rosary Heights 6 for two weeks.
Anti-narcotics operatives seized several sachets of suspected shabu from the couple’s possession.
In Maguindanao, A village councilman who has been in the radar of anti-narcotics operatives for peddling and using prohibited drugs was arrested by authorities early Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Achmad Alibonga, police chief of Datu Odin Sinsuat (DOS), Maguindanao, said Razul Diocolano Imam, 29, a resident of Barangay Banobo, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, did not resist arrest when operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) and DOS police personnel swooped down on his home in Barangay Awang, DOS, Maguindanao.
Alibonga said one big sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” with a market value of about PHP20,000 and marked money were seized from Imam, top councilor of Barangay Banobo, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. (With a report from PNA)
