The man shot by a village watchman following the gunslaying of three people inside a shanty Wednesday in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City, died in a hospital yesterday.
Police said Leonel (earlier reported as Louie) Ernesto, 38, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the chest while being treated at the East Avenue Medical Center around 11:15 a.m..
Ernesto and his wife Estrella, residents of Laurel St., Barangay Old Balara, were shot by Armando Tahil, a watchman in their barangay, at about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Tahil accused the couple of killing his cousin Robert Mago, 22, a certain “Roy” and “Anabel”, whose bodies were discovered riddled with bullets inside a shanty on Commonwealth Avenue around 5:15 a.m. on the same day.
Police said an intoxicated Tahil confronted the couple and shot them.
Estrella sustained a graze wound on the head and was discharged from the same hospital after undergoing treatment.
Police are still tracking down Tahil who went into hiding after shooting the couple.
They have to establish yet the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the killing of Mago and the two other victims. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
