Singer Erik Santos has filed a libel suit against entertainment columnist and radio host Jobert Sucaldito before a Quezon City court for branding him a gay engaged in lewd acts.
In his complaint, Santos said Sucaldito had repeatedly tarnished his reputation through a series of Facebook posts last month labeling him as a gay singer in one of his “blind items” and accusing him of doing lewd acts on a masseur.
Santos said Sucaldito’s posts caused him “mental anguish, serious anxiety, sleepless nights, besmirched reputation, wounded feelings and social humiliation.”
The singer refused to give comments to members of the media following the filing of his case.
Talent manager Erick Raymundo, president of Cornerstone Entertainment, has also lodged three counts of cyber libel, 12 counts of grave threats, and libel against Sucaldito before a QC court for allegedly accusing his company of engaging in malpractice in his posts.
Raymundo said Sucaldito’s social media posts maligned his company’s reputation when he implied that it was engaged in questionable schemes that rob other artists of gigs and projects.
Santos and Raymundo are collectively seeking R24 million for damages. (Chito A. Chavez)
