4 p.m. – Singapore vs Alab Pilipinas
Kiefer Ravena hopes to provide an immediate impact amid the controversy that hounded him for weeks as he makes his debut for Alab Pilipinas against the Singapore Slingers today in the opener of their best-of-three semifinal series in the ASEAN Basketball League at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
Lewd photos allegedly showing Ravena’s private part leaked through social media several weeks ago, eventually leading to the arrest of man accused of trying to extort money from the former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout.
Incidentally, the arrest of a certain Kristoffer Monico Ng in an entrapment operation by law enforcers came on the day Ravena attended his first practice with Alab.
Asked if the scandal would be a distraction ahead of the 4 p.m. match in the Lion City, Ravena said his main concern is to be the missing piece of the puzzle.
“Trying to focus on the task at hand and that is trying to get the championship back to the Philippines for the ABL,” Ravena said after a recent practice at the Enderun Colleges gym in McKinley Hill, Taguig City.
“Just focus on what’s important, which is the team right now. And siguro nga, nasanay ka na lang din na palaging may ganun. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but it is what it is,” he added.
