Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle will wash the feet of 12 representatives from different sectors of society including former drug dependents and loved ones of victims of extra judicial killings during the Mass on Maundy Thursday on April 13 at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros.
He stressed that the washing of the feet symbolizes Jesus’ perfect display of humility and servanthood which is expected of every individual. “It is a servant’s display of humility and great love for his neighbor,” Tagle said.
The twelve who will represent the Apostles of Christ during the reenactment of the Washing of the Feet include: Joana Vicencio, a mother who lost her son during a drug operation; Dr. Ervin De la Rosa from the government sector; PO1 Florence Gumilab; volunteer Jacqueline Portugal; chairman Maria Victoria Grande; former drug dependent Alison Salonga; PO2 Johnny Acebes; volunteer Dominic Portugal; former drug dependents Bong Lazo , George Mamañgon, and Ferdie Santos; and Joseph Guinto, relative of a victim of extra judicial killing.
