CAPAS, Tarlac – A police major who had just retired from service was killed by riding-in-tandem while cruising the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Cut-cut Monday morning here.
Tarlac Police Provincial Director PSSupt Ritchie Medardo Posadas identified the victim as retired police chief inspector Lino Mangrobang who is also a former chief of police.
Posadas disclosed that Mangrobang was shot dead while driving along the MacArthur highway on his way to work at the Bamban Municipal Hall at around 7 a.m.
Upon his retirement last year, Mangrobang was designated head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) of Bamban town where he served as chief of police for more than 2 years.
Mangarobang was driving his red Honda Civic (WSR 826) when he was waylaid by two unidentified armed men at the Cut-cut bridge along the Mac Arthur Highway.
He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died on-the-spot.
Mangarobang was the second policeman killed within the past three weeks. SPO3 Ruben Cortez was also shot dead on board a police mobile car in Barangay Paraiso, Tarlac City, last month. (Mar T. Supnad)
