Two alleged holdup suspects were killed when they exchanged fire police in Sta. Cruz, Manila, early yesterday morning.
One of the suspects was described as about 40 to 45 years old, clad in white shirt and white jersey short pants; while the other was around 30 to 35 years, wearing a gray t-shirt and red pants, according to SPO3 Milbert Balinggan, investigator of Manila Police District homicide section.
Prior to the shootout, the Sta. Cruz Police Station received a telephone call from an unknown man informing that two men attempted to rob him at the corner of Yuseco and Oroquita Streets.
Policemen responded to the area around 3:05 a.m. and spotted the armed suspects.
As they were about to be apprehended, the suspects fired shots at the cops, prompting the lawmen to retaliate.
Policemen brought the suspects to Jose Abad Santos Hospital where they were pronounced dead-on-arrival.
Probers recovered from the crime scene two loaded .38-caliber revolvers, a sling-bag containing six cellphones and a tablet gadget, and three sachets of suspected shabu. (Analou De Vera)
