It is summer, although in an unofficial manner.
On social media, I see a lot of pictures and videos of people going to beaches, taking showers under man-made waterfalls in swim pools everywhere.
That’s summer for the fun-loving Filipinos, who don’t seem to mind that all throughout the year, there is summer in the Philippines.
The official proclamation of summer in the country has been oft postponed by Pagasa in the wake of returning amihan winds (cold front). You have probably noticed that cool breezes have once more felt, even in the Metro, including the nearby provinces.
On Facebook, I read a post by Nestor Cuartero wherein he said, Cool summer afternoon thanks to Amihan.’

In an episode on Matanglawin, we featured the preparation for a cool slushie. You’ll need, a balloon, any favorite drink, container, dry ice, and ethanol.
To make the cool slushie, blow a balloon. Fill it with your favorite drink. In a container with dry ice and ethanol, submerge your balloon for three (3) minutes.
You then remove the balloon from the cold container. Get a glass of your choice and remove the icy goodness in the balloon.

TRIVIA PA MORE (Various Sources): Martial Law declared in 1972 clamped down on bomba films as well as political movies critical of the Marcos administration. Producers cashed in on a new type of bomba, which showed female stars swimming in their underwear, taking a bath in their camison (chemise), or being chased and raped in a river, sea, or under a waterfall. One such movie was the much talked-about Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa (The Most Beautiful Animal on the Face of the Earth, 1974) starring 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz.
