Secretary Ismael Sueno yesterday bowed out at the Department of Interior and Local Government, three days after he was sacked by President Duterte over corruption allegations.
An emotional Sueno said that President Duterte has been misled by his subordinates into believing that he is corrupt, leading to his ouster from the agency.
Sueno said he has accepted his fate of being a victim or sacrificial lamb in the government’s undying fight against corruption.
He said he has not severed his friendship with Duterte and denied involvement in corruption, insisting that the Chief Executive fired him at the end of a Cabinet meeting based on the white paper provided to him by DILG Undersecretaries Jesus Hinlo, John Castriciones, and Emily Padilla.
