University of the East-Cherrylume and National University-Ever Bilena forged a best-three title series in the 1st Rexona Women’s Invitational Tournament by finishing 1-2 at the close of the single-round semis held over the weekend at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.
The Lady Warriors advanced to the finals in grand fashion with a 61-56 win over Philippine Air Force to complete a three-game sweep of the semis round while the Lady Bulldogs clobbered the Centro Escolar University Lady Scorpions, 85-47.
Chack Cabinbin and Janine Pontejos scored 13 points each for the Lady Warriors who extended their winning streak in the Rexona-presented tournament to 11 games dating back the elims.
The Lady Warriors, who earlier reaffirmed their mastery over reigning UAAP titlist National University (82-79) and Centro Escolar University (65-57), also got 12 points from LJ Sto. Domingo to stay unbeaten going into finals.
The Lady Bulldogs, who also beat PAF, 74-47, finished the semis with a 2-1 mark for an overall record of 9-2.
The best-of-three title series starts on April 21 also the same venue.
Cabinbin emerged as the Rexona Best Player of the Games for UE as she completed double-double with 11 assists aside from 8 rebounds, while St. Domingo took the Blackwater Reliable Teammate by grabbing 16 rebounds to likewise complete a double-double.
Rena Itesi took the Rexona Best Player of the Game for NU with 19 points and 10 boards while Gemma Miranda won the Blackwater Reliabe Teammate by producing 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
