The widow of one of the top commanders of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been ordered deported and blacklisted from returning to the country.
Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes said that the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has issued a summary deportation order against Syrian Rahaf Zina.
In the order, the BI directed “deportation of Rahaf Zina to Syria, subject to the submission of her NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) clearance” and have her listed in the bureau’s blacklist as “undocumented/undesirable.”
The order was signed by BI Commissioner Jaime Morente and Associate Commissioners Estanislao Canta and Jose Carlitos Licas.
Rahaf and ISIS explosives expert, Kuwaiti national Hussein Aldhafiri, were arrested together last March 25 at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City by joint operatives of the BI, the Philippine Army’s Security Unit-Intelligence Group (ISU-ISG), and the Intelligence Group-Philippine National Police (IG-PNP).
“Respondent (Rahaf) failed to present a valid passport or travel document to establish the identity and the legality of her stay in the country,” said the BI which confirmed that she arrived in the country last January 28 using a tourist visa.
The BI said the “respondent’s presence in the country poses risk to public interest.”
The BI cited that Rahaf is the widow of Abu Jandal al-Kuwaiti, the number two military commander of the ISIS operating in Syria, who had been killed in military operations. (JEFFREY G. DAMICOG)
