MANAMA, Bahrain – President Duterte arrived here at the Bahrain International Airport Wednesday night signalling the start of his three-day visit in this small Arab monarchy in the Persian Gulf.
The President was welcomed at the airport located in Muharraq, an island about 7 kilometers northeast of the capital Manama by Pilippine Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso Ver and Bahrain Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
There were no events scheduled following his arrival here apparently to give Duterte enough time to rest.
Duterte’s day begins the following morning with a private lunch hosted by Bahrain’sDeputy Prime MinisterShiekh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, at Ritz Carlton Hotel.
At 8 p.m., the official welcome ceremony for , Duterte will be held at the Sakhir Palace to be swiftly followed by his bilateral meeting with His Majesty, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain.
Several agreements will later be signed and then the official dinner will commence to be held also at the Sakhir Palace.
On his third day here, Duterte is scheduled to meet with Prince Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Deputy King and Crown Prince of Bahrain at the Bahrain International Circuit. (Roy Mabasa)
