Actress Patricia Javier and her American doctor husband were robbed of P2.2 million in cash they stored in a shoebox inside their residence in Quezon City, police reported yesterday.
Javier and her husband, Robert Walcher, 43, told police Monday morning that they discovered the theft when they arrived home from the United States where they spent a vacation for almost a month.
Police said the couple and their family left the country on March 24 for US and entrusted their house on Dona Hemady Street in Barangay Kristong Hari, to their two maids.
Walcher told investigators that upon arrival in their house around 10:30 a.m. Monday, he went straight to the storage room where he kept his P2.2 million savings in a shoebox inside his closet.
To his surprise, the doctor found the shoebox outside the closet and already empty. He immediately called the police for assistance.
Police said they recovered from the scene several latent prints from those who may have stolen Walcher’s money.
The two housemaids, whose identities were not disclosed, are also being investigated, police added.
