To have a serious shot at the PBA Commissioner’s Cup title, all San Miguel Beer needs to do is to have fun while playing.
This is the little secret shared by point guard Chris Ross moments after their 103-97 win over Star Hotshots last Sunday, their third victory in as many games this conference.
From having braided hairstyles at the same time, some other non-basketball activities seem to work as an effective bonding endeavor for the league’s latest perpetual champions.
“Even in practice we enjoy ourselves, we have a Zumba class during practice one day. We’re just really having fun with each other and keeping things fresh,” said Ross.
Ross however cautions it is still too early to predict surefire success for their ever-formidable squad.
“You really don’t want to peak first three games of the conference. You want to peak later on in the eliminations and into the playoffs. Hopefully our next two games will be good for us going into the All-Star break,” said Ross.
Ross and fellow point guards Alex Cabagnot and Brian Heruela became trending topics, at least during their Sunday game versus the Hotshots, when they entered the court sporting braids.
Ross however is thinking of adding color to his locks in the near future.
“I want to but Arnold (Van Opstal) beat me to it so I told myself I’ll just wait. Maybe after next conference I’ll do it,” said a smiling Ross. (DENNIS PRINCIPE)
