The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will start releasing on Saturday P200,000 cash to the families of those who died in the bus crash Tuesday in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija in which 35 passengers were killed.
LTFRB board member and spokesperson Aileen Lizada said the Passenger Accident Management and Insurance Agency will issue starting April 22 the first batch of the P200,000 mandated passengers’ insurance for the fatalities in the accident involving a Leomarick Trans bus in Barangay Capintalan last Tuesday.
Lizada said the families of the victims may claim the cash assistance starting 2 p.m. at the LTFRB Field Office in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. They will be asked to present valid identification cards and birth certificates for those who are single or marriage certificates for those who are married.
Claimants who cannot go on Saturday may get theirs during the second release on April 25, also at 2 p.m.
“Release will only be made upon compliance to ensure that the rightful surviving heir receives the assistance,” Lizada said.
For the injured victims, PAMI will be going to hospitals to distribute their financial assistance. An initial of P20,000 cash will be given to them, Lizada said. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
